Open Our Towpath Demonstration
Next to the guarded barrier by the Eastway bridge over the Lee Navigation in Hackney
The true British spirit of turning out an excellent outdoor barbecue despite passing thunderstorms was shown at the beginning of the 'Open Our Towpath" Flashride this afternoon. Demonstrating cyclists and pedestrians went on to travel along the diversions to highlight their concerns about the dangers occasioned by the closure of local cycling routes close to the Olympics.

Update, 31 July 2012, by Steve Dowding
One of my snaps from the 'flashride':
Open Our Towpath 'flashride': After the police escort stopped traffic across two lanes of the A11, the ride safely crossed to the filter lane for the right turn onto Abbey Lane (E15). In the distance is the land bridge which for 'illustrative legacy' had promised DDA compliant gradients for chair users and cycists.
