Weymouth Olympics broadband delayed by Olympics!
Eight months after the so-called first digital Olympics Weymouth, the home of sailing during London 2012, has just got the high-speed broadband BT promised would be available for the Olympics. Bizarrely, BT blamed the Olympics for delaying the Olympic broadband!

on the wrong side of the track
It was something of a joy last night to attend the launch at the Institute of Education of Phil Cohen's East London and the Post Olympics. Part of that joy for me was meeting up with commonKnowledge tovarich John Wallett who spoke briefly and featured in the film shown, Lights on for the Territory.

Was that the Euro 2012 Olympics?
The headline of a BBC Newsbeat article declares 'London Olympics dominate 2012 Google searches in the UK.' So presumably the most searched terms would be something along the lines of 'London 2012 Olympics'. Hmm, apparently not. The article continues:

Corporate disclosure - but thick as thieves
Here's a searching piece of journalism! Sue Reisinger of Corporate Counsel talks to Chief Olympics Counsel Terry Miller about ‘her journey, her love of horses, and the challenges of her job’. Oh, and by the way, there's disclosure! Miller and Reisinger were University of Dayton Law school classmates in the mid-70s, and Reisinger worked with Miller’s British-born husband, Jonathan, at the Dayton Daily News. Just in case you thought they might be thick as thieves!

Control to Police - journalist alert! journalist alert!
It's a daily occurrence at Draper's Field. Once again the police, this time two very pleasant officers from Glasgow, came to check out an Italian camera crew. We were on the pavement so entirely on public ground. It made no difference! So you can sit on a wall, be on the path inside the perimeter of Draper's Field or on the public pavement outside it, filming or just voice recording, but you will still be stopped. You can even have all the necessary accreditation but they will still come and ask what you are doing. The security guards don't get involved any more after multiple confrontations and being told it's none of their business. Their guy in the control room just calls the police.
